DANIEL'S REVIEW:
Summary:
Sorry for these late promised Blu-ray reviews, but have been busy watching these films, so now it's time to review them. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is the most surprising movie of the year so far, after hearing awful reviews, currently holding a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes, why is it that I disagree with critics on this one particular film? My answer, it's a fun, entertaining movie with some great visual effects and reasonable performances by Jeremy Renner (Hansel) and Gemma Arterton (Gretel). It knows it has its problems, but it does know it is nothing more than a fun action popcorn flick.
Video Quality: 4.5/5
The movie is presented in Widescreen 2.40:1 in 1080P HD.
Audio Quality: 5/5
The movie is supported by Dolby Digital 5.1 TrueHD. Despite not having Dolby Digital 7.1, it is still amazing to listen to.
Special Features: 2/5
- Reinventing Hansel and Gretel
- The Witching Hours
- Meet Edward the Troll
- My Blu-ray also features a DVD version of the movie, which I gave an extra point for.
- The movie is also an extended cut.
Overall Thoughts:
The film has its flaws, but it is easy to overlook them as they have a big tick for acting, action and just entertaining me throughout the film. At just 97 minutes, the movie is very fun, despite being short of story. The Blu-ray is amazing, packed with some extras with an amazing audio quality and a pretty good picture quality that shines in HD. I'd say, give it a go, you might enjoy it like I did, but rent it first to see if it is your type of movie.
Daniel's Score: 3.5/5
